Nestling between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales a rescued Farfield Mill opened its doors in April 2001 to a exciting new life as an Arts and Heritage Centre. This followed extensive refurbishment after it ceased production as a woollen mill, which spanned 156 years, 1836 – 1992.
Resident artists include Angela Bradley - Knitwear Designer, Rebecca Callis - Ceramics and Glass, Dilys Creations - Silk, Velvet and Pewter, Liam Donnelly - Hardwood furniture maker, Graham Glynn - Potter, Annie Hudson - Artist, Wendy B Jones - Painter, Keith Owen - Dent Country Furniture, Laura Rosenzweig - Weaver, Maria Santos-Alcantara - Pewter work, Peter Stockdale - Photographer and Bryan Trueman - Artist/Potter.

Low Sizergh Barn on the outskirts of Kendal has a farm shop, tea room, craft gallery and farm trail on their organic dairy farm near the Lake District national park. The farm shop is filled with one of the best selections of local and speciality foods in Cumbria, with farm products - their own organic Kendal cheese, organic eggs and ice cream made from their own milk - taking pride of place. Some examples of the craft products sold in the craft gallery are local pottery, glassware, wrought iron, baskets, rugs, birthday cards, handmade paper, toys, natural skincare, knitwear and clothing made from wool, linen, silk and cotton in soft, easy tones.
